Just a few years ago, I had never even heard of Salesforce. Before March 2020, my career was in Sales and Service, mostly working in Travel as a Tour Operator - a “posh Travel Agent,” as I liked to say. When the pandemic hit, everything changed. Overnight, I lost six months’ commission and any future income vanished. Suddenly, I was supporting my wife, two kids, and our hungry dog on minimum wage. It was a tough wake-up call.

A friend suggested I look at Salesforce. My first reaction? “No way. I’m not technical, I don’t have an IT degree, and honestly, I don’t have a degree at all. How could someone like me possibly break into tech?” Still, one night I checked out Trailhead - and I was hooked. I couldn’t believe how much Salesforce could do and how useful it would have been in my past roles.

Fifty-one days after starting, I earned my Salesforce Administrator Certification (first attempt!). A month later, I passed Platform App Builder, and by July, I’d landed my first Salesforce job as a Junior Consultant at Art of Cloud in Leeds. Over the next six months, I earned five more certifications—Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, CPQ, and Field Service. It was a whirlwind.

Just two years after starting, I landed my dream job: Lead Solution Engineer at Salesforce UK & Ireland. If I can go from knowing nothing about Salesforce to leading solutions at Salesforce itself, anyone can.

But the real game-changer came when I discovered my passion: helping others break into the Salesforce ecosystem. In April 2023, I founded Get Force Certified to help others develop the skills, confidence, and certification they need to change their lives.

Salesforce truly transformed my life. I went from missing out on family moments and working holidays, to building a career I love, with more time, freedom, and financial stability than I ever thought possible. And I don’t say that to impress you, but to show what’s possible.

I’m proud to say that Get Force Certified is now a Salesforce Workforce Navigator Partner - trusted by Salesforce to help train and launch new talent. I was also honoured to receive the Outstanding Contribution to the Salesforce Community Award in 2025.
